The Australian: Alceon backs INSITE DC as ‘the next AirTrunk’ in data centre play
11 May 2026
Alceon is launching a new data centre strategy it believes could become a multi‑billion‑dollar platform, drawing parallels with Goldman Sachs’ early backing of AirTrunk. Through its newly launched Data Centre Catalyst Fund, Alceon has made a strategic investment in Australian developer and operator INSITE DC, targeting at least $100 million in initial capital to accelerate site acquisitions and development along Australia’s east coast. Alceon is betting that surging demand driven by cloud computing and AI, combined with constrained access to power and land, creates an opportunity to enter the sector at an earlier, higher‑growth stage than most institutional investors. The strategy includes a dual track of developing powered land for sale or building and operating energy‑efficient data centres, supported by specialist partner, Formus Property to secure power and strategic sites, with ambitions to attract major hyperscale customers and institutional capital over time.
